The Material Research Institute is aiming to develop new materials for electronics and the information technologies industry utilizing its already advanced refining and material composition technology. The institute has a highly advanced powder technology in terms of structure and function and is seeking to commercialize research results in the materials field. The institute has not only been carrying out government tasks to develop technology, but also is establishing a cooperative system with research organizations at home and abroad. The institute is concentrating on developing electronics and information technologies industries. The institute is concentrating its researchers on materials for electronics and information technology. In the future, the institute will concentrate more on developing core technologies for electronic and information fields and by activating commercialization of developed technologies to emerge as the pioneer of the future electronics and information technology business.
    Information Material Area

Based on the experience of a successful commercialization of the alloy of Fe-Al-Si and the Permalloy family, the institute is developing new materials of cutting edge technologies, including metal alloys, electronics ceramics and recording materials.

  Electronics Material Area

In the electronics material area, the institute developed a production technology of 'high purity polycrystalline silicon', a base material for semi-conductor chips, and has exported to Wacker chemie of Germany. The institute is currently developing Pb-free solder materials and conductive paste.

  Magnetic Material Area

The institute is conducting a research to develop production technologies for Soft Ferrite manufacture, magnetite powder manufacture for toner.

  Composition Material Area

The institute developed and commercialized functional stainless powder and developed, for the first time in Korea, stainless steel powder for the automobile and electronics industries. The institute is researching to localize alloy materials for the precision industry
